Body Doubling in Organizing!

The idea of Body Doubling isn’t a new concept. It originated with the ADHD and neurodivergent community, particularly from productivity and behavioral therapy contexts. The idea was observed decades ago: many people focus better, start tasks more easily, and stick with them longer when another person is physically present—even if that person isn’t helping directly. It’s now used more broadly because it turns out this isn’t just an ADHD thing—lots of people benefit from shared presence and gentle accountability, especially with tasks that feel overwhelming or emotionally loaded (hello, organizing).

Body doubling is simply having someone present while you work - but at Joy Foundry, it goes a step further. We work together with you, side by side, helping you make decisions, stay focused, and keep momentum going. Many people benefit from shared presence and gentle accountability, especially with tasks that are hard to start and easy to walk away half done from. When someone is there to guide, encourage, and do the work alongside you, progress feels more possible - and often, more comfortable.

If organizing has been sitting on your list because it feels like too much, reach out. Joy Foundry is here to help—one manageable step, together. 🩷
